250 c.i.d.

When were 250 cu.in used in chevys, I recently bought one to put in a 54. The guy said that it came out of a 1983 van. How can I tell and why do some have 16 bolts in oil pan and some 24? what's the difference.

1966-1984 when the Vortec 4.3L V6 replaced it.
I would have to check on the pan bolts as I don't know.

Some of the later 250's had an integrated head where the head and the intake were one unit, I believe. Is yours like that?

Yours would be a 292 inline 6 if it is original. 250's were only available on the 1/2T.

You are correct, you could get a 292 in a C10 1/2T, but you couldn't get a 250 in a C20 3/4T and up...

He is asking about the 250cid. 292's never came with integrated heads.
