suspension questions

I haven't posted on here in a long time, but I have my 71 GMC running and on the road. I have a 363hp/432 lb.ft. 383 stroker in it with a close ratio muncie M21 with 12 bolt, with a 3.37 gear. I want to drag race the truck to get a baseline before I go any further.

here's the issue. I have never even dropped the clutch with the motor revved because the truck hops when I roll in the throttle in first. I have one leaf removed (previous owner), and I think this is causing axle rap. If I was to put my slicks on the truck, assuming it hooks, will it want to hop? What would be my best option if this does not work? I am wondering if I should order new lowered leafs or switch to the coil rear? Which is less likely to hop?

The coil set up has real long trailing arms, which prevent this from happening, this is one of the things that makes it a kick ass set up.
Slicks would make the problem real bad... to where you break parts.
Adding a leaf may help, but I can't really say yeah or no.

If I'm not mistaken, the axle is under the leafs, so I doubt you could go with regular traction bars.
