Speaker Advice
I put a Pioneer 2900 HU in my 69 and am looking at putting some speakers in.I'm lost at what to do here I am not an audio guy at all.I am on a budget and was looking at the 6.5" Pioneer 2 way speakers to put behind the seat in the corner's this would be in my 69 (gas tank relocated and bucket seats).OR maybe in the door paneldon'y want to hack my door. Will this speaker be up to snuff or should I go for a 3way speaker I mainly listen to rock. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Speaker Advice
I would go with aftermarket kick panels as you wont have to cut anything and they can be removed later. They will also provide a better sound stage than behind the seat.
The Pioneer 6.5's will do just fine. |

Look there,, its not that hard,, just a bit of your time. Just post some pics if and when you do. |
Re: Speaker Advice
I think the 6.5's will be enough. What I would recommend is buying pre-fab 6.5 speaker boxes at any car audio shop for $6.00-$10.00 each and placing them behind the seat and trying them out. If after a while you decide that the sound isn't enough from the behind the seat, you can then go with kick panels or what ever. You can also then decide to keep the 6.5's in the back and buy 3.5 for the dash and have front sound as well for future. Good luck and have fun with your system.

Pioneer makes a good speaker, but if you are unsure of what you like, go to your local stereo shop and listen to some of the different speakers that they have and see which ones you like the best. |
Re: Speaker Advice
Yep I went yesterday and listened to some,I sure like the 6x9 3ways and they were only $10 more than the 6.5 2ways.This is hard to decide allmost like trying to pick the right cam for your engine:baa: THANKS FOR THE HELP

Re: Speaker Advice
I Bought Some Small Box Speakers And Mounted Under The Seat. And Bought The Kick Panel Set From Lmc. It Sounds Decent. It Would Sound Better If I Had A Booster Of Some Kind. But This Is An Idea Of A Way To Go

Re: Speaker Advice
I bought some Dual 5.25's over to wal-mart for $28 and mounted them under my dash. They sound excellent for cheap speakers, they sound about the same as the $70 Pioneer 6x9's they had.
Just my 2 cents, I'm very impressed with them. |
Re: Speaker Advice
where did you mount them under the dash? or was this not on a 67-72 truck?
