I became suspicious because the outside was so filthy so I dropped the pan and that is what I found.

Yah sure it says in the auction that it was rebuilt, but the key is "when was it rebuilt?"

I would be leary bidding on anything that they dont show an actual picture of.

I looked at the guys feedback. Not one auction for a complete tranny, but you can only see feedback for his auctions back to 12/19/01. Lots of servos though.

breeh 03-22-2002 12:06 AM

I looked at his feedback too. I didn't think that I would have to comb through everyone of his transactions to see every deal that he made. I guess that I will from now on. That is if I ever make another purchase that large again on E-Bay.

71Chev 03-22-2002 12:25 AM

Don't take this the wrong way.
But I would have liked to see atleast one positive feedback in the last 90 days for a complete tranny, before bidding. That's just me

Sorry no words of advice, I haven't had a bad expererience on Ebay yet. Have you contacted the seller?

I to have no words of advice, but want you to know that I have been burned before and I feel for you. Gotta trust in Karma. Thats what stops me from taking out my rage in these types of situations. Just my 2 cents

Hmm... thats not good. Seems like a lot of crooks in the Chevy Truck part business lately.

ebay protects you against fraud for up to $200, how did you pay? paypal? money order? if you can prove you paid and that the item is not as stated you can get ebay to fork over up to $200. might help in getting that tranny fixed up a bit.

got to ebay and check out safeharbor and you can file a fraud claim.

Report him to eBay, do the negative feedback, check with the BBB in his town and file a complaint with them. Go the extra mile to make sure you do everything to protect the next potential victim.

I always check feedback, to the point of checking the feedback of those who've left negative comments. This usually gives you some idea of who you are dealing with. If the seller doesn't have much feedback, you're going out on a limb. Disregarding more than a couple of negatives (and I mean 1 or 2) and you are inviting trouble.

My single negative feedback was posted by a guy I bought something from that turned out to be broken. I tried to get him to take it back but he never responded to my emails. So I posted negative and the prick turned around and posted negative for me even though he had my money.

Then again I've met some really nice, honest people on ebay. You never know ... I'd say the crooks run about 1 in 40 or 50. Not bad considering there is no human contact or inspection of goods.

PayPal is a JOKE when it comes to getting screwed.

Dead serious. If you got SOMETHING, they don't care.

I bought a CD-RW drive off of someone and paid with PayPal. It was sold as guarnateed working drive. Of course, it won't read or burn a single disc I put in it. He won't take it back, and when I went to PayPal, they didn't care, because I got a drive.

In your case...you got a transmission, PayPal doesn't care if you got a working transmission or not.

By the way...anyone on the board near Alamogordo, NM, feel like paying this kid a visit? You could have most of the $35 he owes me for your trouble... I'd rather that money be in the hands of a boardmember than a thief. =)
