Changing bed length

I have a 65 Long fleetside bed, I was wondering if you could shorten to a 7' bed so that it would be a little longer than a short bed but not as long as a long bed. What all would be required to do this ,if it is possible the easiest way? thanks

It all depends on where you take the foot out from. If you just cut off the last foot of bed it would be easy!

I wouldn't say that it could be easy....and still make it look good. First off you need to be somewhat experienced at cutting and welding sheetmetal. And then after that you'll need to shorten the wheelbase, which to be done right will require shortening the frame....cutting and welding again. Whenever a frame is welded, it really needs to be done by an experienced weldor. A failed weld on a frame could mean serious injury to you or others.

A few weeks ago on the 'Trucks' show they shortened a 8' bed to a 6' bed on IIRC a '66. They showed the right way to do this IMO, and it turned out nicely.
