Does anyone here use the stuff? I have a transmission that is starting to slip a little bit in 2nd and has a small leak. I just put some in at lunch and it did actually help the slip.

I also bought some Lucas oil treatment for the '68 and the '90.
I've always heard good things about Lucas so I thought I'd give them a try.

a band aid at best may give you some extra time to obtain a replacement tranny in the near future

I use it in every vehicle i have.... from my 69 c10 to my 64.5 mustang to me 48 packard and all my newer vehicles... I love the stuff....

My parents use to own an autoparts store and they recommended the Lucus products. As cdowns said, the stop leak stuff is a short term solutions to long term problem. That being said, I run the transmission stuff in my '72.

Yah I just don't have the cabbage to go through the 700R4 right now. Just trying to squeeze some more miles out of it.

Whenever I go to the parts store and see the little lucas oil demonstration thing with the gears I give it a spin while the parts guy is grabbing my parts. I think to myself, "why would you want this, its going to wrap up on my crank, cam and everything else and eat horsepower".

So no, I don't use it.

Only used their power steering stuf on a peterbuilt that leaked so bad it wasnt even funny. We filled it up twice with this stuff and it stopped leaking and we made it back home from Southern Cali to Northern Indiana where we had a spare pump on the shelf :)

First of all, I'm a skeptic about most things. I've used slick50 a few times but didn't really have anything to compare whether it did any good. I don't regularly use additives in engines because I'm not sure they do anything beyond what proper maintenance does. But, i'm also skeptical about his results.

It's an interesting "experiment" but it's not scientific. I can see what appears to be steel gears in the "control" tank and what appears to be coated gears in the other tank(what's going to stick to teflon?). I think the results are intentionally skewed to make Lucas look bad and make Shaeffers look good.

If someone has an unbiased test ... otherwise listen to the testimonials.

Any additive poured into an automatic tranny , while it will do most of what it claims, it will shorten the life of the tranny.
In otherwords, if the tranny is slippin, go ahead and use it.
If your tranny is fine, don't put anything in it but clean fluid of the proper make and type. Synthetic is a HUGE bonus, but, not needed if you service it properly.
I think there power steering leak stopper is a perfect example of what there line of products is all about. It's like 90 weight oil, but thicker, and red. No sh!t it isn't gonna leak out. It isn't gonna pump through the system properly either.
