Can I mount my 70 cab/bed on a 73-87 frame?
 

Hey guys, can you tell me if I can mount my 70 cab and bed on a 73-87 frame? My truck is a longbed, and a friend of mine found a 73-87 shortbed for 100 bucks. So I was wondering if any of you guys have made this swap, and if you could tell me how hard it is or if even possible. Thanks in advance.

yes you can

you WILL have to move some body mounts and make some spacers[like body lift] but it is easy enough to do.

If you want a lowered truck then I wouldnt,as it will set up like a 4wd after the body lift is on..

you can do it without using a body lift, but as already stated you will have to remove and then reinstall the body mount brackets.

I think you would be able to find a correct year SWB frame if ya keep your eyes peeled. I am only about 100 miles south of you and I have seen them (frame only) for that kind of money ... even less on occasion.

So do you guys think I should just hit the junkyards? Where do you guys usually find them?
