How much air????

I was wondering if anyone knows what is the recomended PSI to put in the stock rear air bags on my 1969 Custom Camper? Any info on GMC or chevy long horns would be great, Im trying to make a sign for car shows to explain to people what this truck is all about

Stock air bags? Are you sure? Never seen them myself! Can you post pics?

I will get pics asap. I'm assuming that they put the air bags on for hauling campers

not stock, they were just getting ionto air shocks at that time. Tractor trailer trucks didn't even have bags at the time.
I can't remember the min PSI to run in them, but I DO remember, you don't want to run them flat, they'll get pinched.

As for info, I can't remember if I said it in your other post(s) but my longhorn website (in my signiture) is probably the most complete source of info.

Re: How much air????

They don’t look like air shocks or shocks at all. They look similar to the air bags you would find on a semi truck or trailer. If these are not stock I apologize I was told when I bought the truck they were stock

Re: How much air????

no, i didn't mean to sound like I was tellin you they were shocks.
cdowns, you're talkin about the ones that get stuffed into the coils? I was alwasy told they came about in the 80's.
69 camper, are these in addition to your springs, or are they in place of the springs?
Again, i wouldn't run them empty, pinches and stuff would make them worthless.

Re: How much air????

We definitely got a set of those kind that fit inside the rear coils when the 1971 Olds 88 was new. We used that car to pull the camper trailer and those air bags were awesome. What we would do was load up the car and the camper and hook everything up and then air up the bags until we got back the ride height we wanted. They were also great for when we took mom's car out for a night on the town since we could stop at the gas station and get that jacked up rear end look that was cool at the time.

My Truck has leaf springs and these air bags I am asking about. I put 25 psi in each bag seems to be working?
