Wont Start, What Gives???????
I have a 72 blazer with a 350/350 set up. I (mostly JTRUX)put on a carter performance series carb about a month ago and it ran alot better. The next upgrades were the plugs and wires. After putting on new plugs and 8mm wires (JTRUX AND I AGAIN)my truck wouldn't start. I have an hei dist and bought the plugs for a 76 chevy 350 and gapped them to .045. i cranked the motor until the battery died. We advanced and retarded the timing and still no starting. anyone have any ideas?

Did you wire it this way? Are you getting power at the "B" post? Pull a plug wire off and put a spark plug in it and lay on metal. Crank engine to see if there is a spark at the plug gap.

Re: Wont Start, What Gives???????
yup did you plug the coil back in or reconnect the battery when you finished?
i spent last weekend putting my sbc in and got all mixed up and out of whack. i couldnt get it to cough sputter or pop for nothin, then i realized i hadnt installed plugs and wires after doing hedders!!! |
Re: Wont Start, What Gives???????

Re: Wont Start, What Gives???????
re-checked the plug wires and saw that the spark was really weak. It coughs a little when i turn it over but wont start. any ideas? i double checked the wires on the dist and the firing order.

Re: Wont Start, What Gives???????
your coil may be to weak to bust spark at that amount of gap, grab a hot aftermarket coil or even a new stocker.

Re: Wont Start, What Gives???????
Have your coil checked, check your ignition module while you're at it, but those usually work or don't work.

Re: Wont Start, What Gives???????
Check the module in the dist they just go and thats it.
