That looks fantastic! Congratulations.

Not to rain on your parade, but you'll want to dump that Edelbrock foamie air filter and get a good high-flow 14" diameter 3" tall unit. It looks cool...but it's a lousy filter both for filtration and airflow.

yea thats what i am hearing I just love the look of them. any way to make/buy a better fliter for the piece??

Can't go wrong with that factory crate motor in my opinion. Looks nice to me. You should have painted that firewall while the motor was out though.

All I have heard about them is foam+backfire = not so good turnout. :)

There's a long thread on here somewhere about them. Andy will chime in with it. :lol:

Not really. The issue isn't just the foam and consequent fire risk - it's just a bad cleaner overall for filtration and flow. The big open element cleaners are by far the best for both - even if they don't look quite as sleek. Summit has a million air cleaners - I'm sure you can find something you like. Then get a K&N filter for it, a cleaning kit and you're set for life :)

Look on the Big Race Cars with carb SBCs...14" element 4+" high. This is one of those cases where there's pretty much One Right Answer - rare, but it happens :)

Horsepower?
Where you bought it?
Is it turnkey?
Price including shipping?

Did you do a lot of shopping around before you decided on this engine?

I had that air cleaner in my '82 truck, caught fire and I couldn't get the hood open, finally got it open, put the fire out and drove it home. Still starts and runs, but scared me, I was at lowes and it was full of lumber.
