rear end swap
hey guys, i have someone trying to sell me a rearend out of a 73 suburban to put into my 69 fleetside. the reason i'm considering is because he says it will give me 5 lugs versus 6 and i will have a positive traction rear end, and he says it will bolt right up with no mods. Is all of this true.

Re: rear end swap
Not unless your truck has leaves. You can convert a leaf spring over to work on a coil truck but you're going to have to have some brackets as well as access to a welder. You're also gooing to have to come up with somewhere to mount your track bar.

Re: rear end swap
The perches are still in a different spot,I believe. No,what he (seller) said wasnt true.It can be made to fit though, just not a bolt in application.

Re: rear end swap
Probably worth the trouble tho.:D

Re: rear end swap
Early Classics sells the perchs for something like $30 a set to weld on.

Re: rear end swap
well i trust your opinions and insight before i do this guys, are there any other rearends that will bolt up to my truck with and give me 5 lugs and posi traction?

Re: rear end swap
71 and 72 C/10... that is it for a true bolt in with 5 lug.

Re: rear end swap
is that positive traction?

Re: rear end swap
Depends, posi was an option, they're getting kinda hard to find anymore.

Re: rear end swap
Take it from me, let a professional install it for you. Look at my previous threads, Axles, Rearend destruction CPP Axles. Do a search on either one and you will see my woos!!
In fact Axles is a few threads below this one. Unless you have the skill this is one project that I wll never tackle again. |
