Transmission Hump question

I have a 67 c10 with a 250ci engine and 3 on the tree. It has what I would consider a very low transmission hump. I am planning to do a V-8 swap (small block) with a 700R4 transmission. Will I have to cut the hump out and weld in a taller hump to accomodate the automatic, and if so, do any vendors sell new humps or will I have to cut one out of another truck? My
14 year old son and I am just getting started on this project and we want to begin collecting the necessary parts.

im pretty shure that to do the swap, you will not have to change the floor hump. i think the large hump is mainly for 4x4s. i would check with one of the old school guys here, this is a pretty common swap

Re: Transmission Hump question

I'm no expert yet but I believe that the "high hump" was used for 4 speeds & auto trannys, which probably includes most 4X4's.

Re: Transmission Hump question

4 speed trucks
4X4 trucks
big block trucks
and V6 automatic trucks in a 1/2 ton
Are the only ones that got high humps.
So a small block with an auto is fine.

Re: Transmission Hump question

I've done the swap, low hump cab. There isn't much clearance, but it does clear. When I did my 350 700R4 swap I put the motor in the "correct" v-8 position. Not sure if it would clear if it were in the I-6 position?
