Finaly!! Progress on the Panel!!

Well I finaly have some progress to report on the Panel. I had to take it to another body shop, because I was just not working on it. (Too many distractions like the 70 2wd Blazer. We got the 1/2 barn doors cut and fitted. :metal: I also made it to a wrecking yard to buy a lift gate from an astro van to harvest the latching mechanisims. I got a bonus there in it being remote opening electricly. So now the Panel will be the same way. I also harvested some Jeep Grand Cherokee front door hinges to use for the hidden hinges for the barn doors. I also received the upper hinge section from board member UNCLE for the lift gate. It looks great also. Here is a couple of pics... WES

That is a huge billboard you have there. I like the tail gate idea. BTW, do you have the plastic brake pedal bushings and brake rod boot?

Well been doing a little tinkering on the panel and have gotten a little more done. It now has a lift gate!! I also spent some time in the local wrecking yard drilling out rusted bolts to retreive a set of Jeep Wagoneer front door hinges so that I could hide the hinges on the lower barn doors. I had to drill 6 door bolts!! lol Anyway here are some pics... WES

Re: Finaly!! Progress on the Panel!!

Sure did!! The plan is to be able to use stock weatherstrip with just a few minor modifications to it. WES

Re: Finaly!! Progress on the Panel!!

Is there only one hinge on each of the lower halves of the doors?? If so, how well do they work??

Classic Heartbeat 09-11-2007 07:46 PM

Re: Finaly!! Progress on the Panel!!

That is the original barn door hinge and is only there to see that the doors are cut and fitted correctly. I hope to use 2007 silverado extended cab rear door hinges on the barn doors so that they will be hidden. They will also open up 180 degrees and have built in stops. WES
