Factory Tack Problem
 

So I was installing a diff fuel guage since I wiped some of white graphics off the old one when I was cleaning it and when I put it all back together the tach wasn't working correctly, (%$#@)! Worked fine before, but now it sits at zero at idle (approx 500 rpm) and I'm guessing it lags about 500 rpms behind as I rev it up. I messed with the adjustment at the back and it will not correct it, though it does change how fast the needle moves across the gauge.

I did refinish the needles when it was apart and then blew the cluster out with some compressed air......I'm totally stumped and pissed too cuz it screwed up my planned progress today.

Just for more info, it is hooked up to my MSD tach output, but like I said before, it was working.

Any ideas?

What about the ground screw near where the fuel gauge is, are you sure it is tight? I would check for ggrounding issues if it were me...Randy

Thanks Randy....

Ground is definately fine. It works fine as far as revving the engine up and the tach needle progressing through it's arc.....like I said before, it just seems like its behind 500 rpm +/-.

I can't figure out what I did while I had it apart!!

Just got back from my honeymoom......I'm broke!....and can't afford a new tach.....nor can I spell it (tack?)

Thought I'd bring this back to the front and try to get the attention of all the tack "experts".......anybody?

Sits at zero at idle? I guess I would take it out and hook it up directly and see if it then reads right. If so,track down the bad connection,if not find out what dirt etc.got blown into the delicate mechanism.I'd study it closely and shoot some air at key locations. I don't remember mine having an adjustment in the back,you sure it's factory?-Brian
