Progress on my '53 3100
Got a '53 3100 5 window in Casper,Wyo. last summer. Started with the front end and put in SS Brakes Royal King Pins, new tie rod and ends, drag link,
spring shackles and bushings, Addco sway bar and a disc brake conversion. Just put in a rear from a '76 Camaro for mock up. Truck came with a '72 250 mated to the original trans but I scored a '72 SM465 at a swap meet. It sits on 15X6 steel wheels in front with 235-75 radials and 15X7 wheels and 255-70's out back. I'm looking for a 292 as the rear has 2.73 gears. Your thoughts? Bill in Denver, Father of powell72. |
Re: Progress on my '53 3100
The cool thing about these old trucks is that any swap is a good one. I am helping my dad on his truck and we are putting a big block in it. There are several guys on here doing the LS1 swap and I have seen a couple 6 cylinder swaps, so my opnion is do what ever is going to make you happy. If you are looking for more technical advice then I don't think I am going to do you any good...lol. Post some pictures and keep asking question and there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here.

I see you`re keeping the front-end and I like that.A 292 would be the "top dog" 6 and cool for keeping a vintage feel to it.
