Here's some from last year's race's. New paint, junkyard tires, used shocks and no sponsers. We were on a budget!

Man i need to move!!!That looks so cool we have nothing around here like that. We have mud mud and more mud and if you do find a rock its like a speed bump.

Re: pics of obstacle course Blazer
for a toll road you would think I-80 would be paved all the way!

Re: pics of obstacle course Blazer
That`s some cool racing, like scrambles in a truck.

Re: pics of obstacle course Blazer
I didn't even realize you did that. So, how is the Blazer set up?

Re: pics of obstacle course Blazer
Is it a speed event or is there any climbing/rock crawling involved?
Looks fun either way. |
Re: pics of obstacle course Blazer
Just got back from the " Coal Bucket Run" last night. We finally finished all 10 laps and got 7th in our class. Its the first time we didn't break so bad that we couldn't finish. YEA MAN!!
Yukon, Its got 2" heavy duty springs in the front, 2" soft ride springs in the back, dual Bilstein 5150 reservoir shocks in the back, and single 5150's in the front. (it needs triple's). And big bump stops. A rebuilt Eaton posi with 750lb springs in the 12 bolt rear. Its like a spool, it dosent give at all. Not even on pavement. And a open D44 in the front for now. 3:73 gears for now too. Its got a well used 350 with almost no oil pressure at idle, and a rebuilt th350 trans with a reverse patern valve body and a hurst ratchet shifter. 205TC. 20 gal. fuel cell, 2 junkyard electric fans. Plastic racing seats , 5 point belts and window nets i got for cheap at the Maple Grove swap meet. The back tires are 33 12.50/15 junkyard tires and the front are P-78/15 Buckshot wide mudder tubeless tires with tubes. Skidplates and more skidplates. vtblazer, Its a timed event. At this race the course was 3 miles long and you had to go around it 10 times. The first racer left at around 10:30 am and every minute after that another truck leaves. Every vehicle has a bar code and gets scanned at the start/finish line and the checkpoints out on the track. There is 1 big hill climb and some smaller ones. The PA coal region is 5" down on rain this year so there wasn't a lot of mud. There is a creek at the bottom of the hill climb witch makes it interesting sometimes. Lots of rocks, but not big ,huge rocks like you climb over. We go around those because we are trying to go as fast as we can. I think the biggest tires that are there are 35's. Bumping is allowed. If you catch up to another racer and and blow your horn and he dosen't get over at the next spot where there is room,,you can bump him and let him know that you want by. If some one breaks down in the middle of the track, you can either push them out of the way, or find a way around them some how. Climb the bank, run over tree's, make your own trail, do what ever you have to do. I went to Line Mt for the first time in 1997 and was instantly hooked. After watching for years it was time to do it. And i new that i had to do it in a 69-72 Blazer. Because there was no old Blazer's there as long as i have been going. I get a lot of thumb's up from spectators as i'm racing around the track!:) :) |
