short frame. vs. long?

All you guys that wheel alot, here is a question for you. What frame platform is best all around for wheeling, the short, [or blazer frame], or the long 8 foot bed frame? I ask because I am thinking of selling my truck, and going to a blazer. It would be much better for my family when they go with me bouncing up the trail. I just dont want to sell myself short by going with a blazer, sub, if there is more benifit in the long wheel base.? Is there any?

depends on your 4x4 fun. my blazer works good for my family. its nice for turning on trails, the wheel base for a general all around rig is good.
