67-72 crew cab build cost
How much do you guys in the "know" think it should cost to have a crew cab body built? Just the conversion. The rest could be a nice resto project. Who would be really good at this? Keep in mind, just the body work, and fab work to make the cab shell with four doors.

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
Time is money.
If it only took 250 hours at $100 per hour, I'd be amazed. |
Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
Extd56: that is exactly what I am talking about! 68 front to boot. Awsome!!! I like it a very lot. ChevLoRay: You are saying $25,000. To do this? Wow!!!! I can buy a 3 door, dolled up in Denver for that right now.

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
WHo is getting 100 bucks an hour??? That is a rediculous price.
Alloways Rod Shop as in Bobby Alloway charges 45.00 an hour!!!!1! |

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
I have tried to figure out how much my extend a cab project cost with no avail. I think that it is one of those things that are better left alone, for the sake of my marriage anyways. I wouldn't have any idea what the crew cab would cost. It would probably be a lot cheaper to buy one complete though.

Check with rokcrln he did alot of work on the one pictured above he may be able to give you a ballpark figure. It will be expensive for sure.

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
I have never added up the money spent on the truck but to do anything custom does cost. I was offered a 2 wheel driver Blazer for the crew cab in its present condition but never went to look at the Blazer. All the truck needs to run are a gas tank, radiator and wiring up the front end and for the TBI.

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
That's a great looking start on the crew cab Ext56. That is a prime example of doing it right to start with. The doors and fit look just like it may have rolled off the assembly line that way and not like something that someone put together.
It will definitely raise the bar for extended and crew conversions when it is finished. |

Thanks, I had a good start when I bought the truck a lot of the work had been done but it needed a lot of rust work done that Kevin did and he also made the 4TH door when that area needed to be reworked. I also have an extended cab 67 that I was told was done in 67 that I am also working on.

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
Okay, maybe a $100 per hour is too much. But 250 hours is too few. So, keeping $25K in mind, change the hours and cost per hour to make it work. It wouldn't be something that could be done in a weekend, or a week even. If Bobby Alloway charges $45 per hour, ask him how much.

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
$60 and hour X 40 hours a week X 3 months is my guess

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
I'm not an expert, but know a little about these trucks :D
To me, the only crew cabs that look "proper" are the ones that used the squared off 'suburban doors. So, basically, you'd need to start with a suburban body (which would probably be the easiest. But 'burbs never came with a 4th door, so you could live with the 3rd door, or have the 4th door "created.") Which is what was done to the truck above. The back is closed off with a pick-up cab. The frame is the next problem, how to stretch it, etc... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...highlight=crew Your cheapest option is to find one someone has already built (if you can't do the work yourself) :D OR buy an original conversion truck, but most of them look like 2 cabs were just welded together (the angled windows look awkward.) and fix the b pillars to look more appealing. I absolutely LOVE this truck. It started out as a 'burb as well. http://www.classictrucks.com/feature...7chev_01_z.jpg |

Re: 67-72 crew cab build cost
Location plays a role in how much it will cost to have this done.I think with the cost of it all,you could buy one done for less and not spend years finishing up what is still left to be done after who ever you pay to make it a extended cab gets done.
