'69 side-swiped,trim replace advice needed

http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q...t=IMG_0429.jpgWas parked on the street and somebody sideswiped my truck creasing the trim pieces among other damage (plastic pieces of his car were all over the street,so I get some very slight satisfaction).
I bought the replacement trim, all three pieces, but I was wondering the correct way to get these on there. The little clips are still intact, some are a little bent. Thanks-Brian

Sorry to hear that. Darn glad to see you still have a truck. The clips are real easy to reinstall on the trim. You can rebend them back or pick up some new ones at PEP-BOYS. I would suggest a fitting and adjust before putting the fasteners on. The trim needs to line up with the edges of the area like fitting to look right. Then when your happy with how it should look then you can install your fasteners. Good Luck and have fun. Longhorns Rule!

Thanks 70gmc. What I couldn't figure was that some of the clips are threaded and don't pop out.Was I supposed to remove the inner fender and the door panel to access the inside and undo some nut? 'Cause I went out there this morning (pre-coffee) and just pried until they broke off. Now I am assuming that the regular press-in ones will work in their place,I'm kinda wondering why they had some that threaded in. And the little wire doesn't seem to do anything.Maybe after a strong coffee it will all make sense.

Seems like they might fall off in a work environment,in really hot weather. Anybody?

I think as long as the surface is free of any waxes and VERY clean they will have no problem sticking and staying stuck. If you are worried you can always replace the stock tape with 3M Red Double stick tape.
