VIN Location

I think the VIN has disappeared. 1966 c-10. I thought it was on the door. I have looked all over this truck and I can not find the VIN! I have to drive my truck to the tag office to confirm the ID# in order to get my title back, and the freaking thing seemed to have vanished. Funny thing is, I thought I have seen it many times, and now that I need it, it is no where to be fond. Any help would be appreciated.

It should be on the drivers side on the cab in this location.

Thanks David! It is still there:metal: I looked about every where but there. And who ever painted my truck last, just painted right over it:rolleyes: Made it a little less visible.

You can also find the last seven digits on the driver side frame rail adjacent to the exhaust manifold...the first of the seven will be a letter, that stands for the city of origin. The last six characters will be digits, that start with 100,001 and will signify the number off the line. For example 100,456 would be the 456th unit off the line.

When the VIN tag has been painted over, I clean off the paint with a wire wheel to expose numbers and give it a brushed aluminum finish, being careful not to remove any paint from the adjacent sheet metal.
