and no i didnt truck a load of coors, but what i did do was fix the dent in the front of my fender when everybody i told said to just get a new instead of messing with it, but i think it came out pretty damn good myself and once i get a leading kit itll be nice and smooth, thepart thats supposed to flat where the grill sits against was actually pushed in a bout a half inch
but like i always say - primer spots better than a dent |
Re: i did whats they said couldnt be done

Thanks much for all the compliments guys |
Re: i did whats they said couldnt be done
Thats pretty darn good work. I've seen leading done on American Hot Rod. They don't appear to wear much along the lines of fume or chemical protection. Is lead not toxic or are the AHR folks braking some OSHA rule on national television?

i do lead work on forklift batteries, and the air has been tested by OSHA with no problems. The greatest concern is it is on your hands, and you need to wash them after handling lead. |

Re: i did whats they said couldnt be done
I hear guys say toss parts and buy new all the time.Like there`s only two considerations:time vs money. That may be true on newer body work. But,on older stuff like this I say bull! All we hear is how this fender doesn`t fit or the new stuff dents easy(let`s see how quick it rusts). We see bondo going on brand new sheetmetal to get it straight. So,I have a pair of`67 fenders from a clip I bought, original paint.I was going to toss them because the passenger one has the cup rot from the battery and the driver`s has a verticle dent above the wheel arch to the rear. But,after trying to find two decent used fenders that the rest of the world doesn`t want ahaead of me and avoiding new metal as long as I can....they`re gettin`fixed and bolted-up.
The same on my`72 CheyenneSuper...the door bottom skins are rusted, just the skin.I can`t see replacing those with repros and good used doors are tough to find or ship. It`s alot of work putting the guts into a door, too. The plan,if I kept it,was to put new bottom skins on.I may do the inner bottoms just to eliminate the speaker holes. But,only if I see rust getting into that part.Gotta put speakers somewhere. |

my Dad would have been very pleased with your work. he once fixed a rolled 65 C10. and didnt use any patch panels at all.
