Convert 2wd to 4wd

I know what I need, is it worth it. I am thinking about the 83 2wd 3/4ton 'Burb that I bought for the 454/400. If I keep it, I have to have it 4wd bc it is just HUGE. Is it worth it? I will build a stump pulling 383/350 combo for it on the cheap. The body is straight and there is no major rust.

Re: Convert 2wd to 4wd

If you want a 4wd,the easiest and quickest way would be to find a 4wd chassis and put the burb body on it.It's not like the old trucks where you search for years to find a 4wd frame, there are 4wd frames for your 'burb out there.

There are many ways to lift a 2wd as well. They do it in California all the time for the prerunner look

I was thinking about just lifting it as a 2wd and waiting to covert it to 4wd. I just need to decide on a color for the body.

Re: Convert 2wd to 4wd

If you decide to lift it as a 2wd West Coast burb-- Fabtech should have all you need. Lift spindles, A-arm kits, etc., Plus you could throw a 2inch body lift on top of it all and have room for 35's at least, maybe more. And when people ask why you lifted a 2wd, you can tell them how cool and forward-thinking you are because they do this in Cali all the time(laughs)
