700r4 Question?
 

Put a used 700r4 trans in my truck, didn't know previous condition, started it up and worked, but then stopped working (low fluid) added fluid and it went again. Used it again and seemed to work fine, yet there was a moaning gear noise that went away when I put it into N , I do not have any wires hooked to it, I believe spacing of torque converter to flexplate (1/2 in) was ok. I drove it about 10 minutes and parked it, after that it would not move. Made some noise in all gears but reverse. Again: worked, doesn't work , add qt, works, fades, add qt works, makes noise, add qt. works but noisy, will stop noise in N, park will not work again, add qt. no difference, noise in p n d 3 2 1 but not in R? Any ideas?

Sounds like the tv cable might not be adjusted. It controls pressure in the trans and can create huge problems if it's driven very far out of adjustment. Here's a link to site that shows how to adjust it:
