Water Pump Fun

Yesterday my water pump broke, the bearings went out, and today I had so much fun putting another one back in! It was cool, brought back the good o'l days when you could work on your truck! Touched up on some paint in a few spots and it's back running! Total cost was under $30. and a couple of hours, wow it was great!!

You know I got started and I just kept seeing things that I could make better or improve! I'd get something done and then I'd run to the parts store to get another add on item!

He probably put in a new T-stat….would have been a wise time to do it.

Yes it was the T-Stat that took the longest time, LOL. Got a 192*, yes winters here are cold here! The PO must have broke the left side bolt and re-taped it because it was a larger bolt going into the manifold. Needless to say when I bought the chrome one the larger bolt would not fit through the hole of the t-stat housing, so I just taped new threads right into the housing and threaded the bolt down into the manifold. Not planning on keeping the old manifold anyway and it worked great so I'm on the road again!

Watch out these things are very addicting
One thing then the next then the next, hard for me to stop after just one little task.

You said you taped the through hole on the new chrome neck?
That is not advisable as you cannot get it to tighten. Once the bolt head bottoms out it’s done. Your best bet will be to drill it for a through hole.
I’m not saying to pull it all apart, (especially if it’s not leaking) but keep in mind if it does start to leak then you’ll need to pull it off then.

Ya it was a trick to get tight, no leaks, that's good.

My repair jobs always take twice as long as I expect them to because I always find other stuff to knock out in the meantime.

"What's this wire doing here?"
