driveshaft loop crossmember

has anybody cut off and reinforce the bottom of this crossmember so it is level with the bottom of the frame? If so, pics and advice would be great.

That's on my to-do list too. Already moved the hoop up. Just need to flatten the bottom. Why not go with the ECE piece? Because I'm not doin a body-off... yet.

When I take this crossmember out to modify it, do you think I would need to brace the frame there at all if the truck is on jack stands with the cab off?

Re: driveshaft loop crossmember

How high can you raise the top of the loop before it would hit the cab floor? Mine will not be as low as some, so not worried about the bottom but want to run a 1 piece drive shaft so need the room on top. Don't mean to hi-jack just trying to get more info. for all.
Thanks Jack

Re: driveshaft loop crossmember

Thanks, I read that whole thing and the only # I found that would help me was 7" from bottom of frame to bottom of floor. Only problem is I have 8" from bottom of frame to top of stock drive shaft loop:confused: Of coarse my cab is on the ground, That is why I ask.I guess I will have to take out my tape and do some math.I think my body mounts are long gone, Anyone know how tall they are? Trying to get all the welding done before I put the cab back on.
Thanks for the help.
Jack
