71 Cheyenne in Chandler

OK, It's been a while since I've posted but I sold my 71 LWB BB truck a couple of years ago to finish my 66 Malibu and a couple of other things. I recently sold the Malibu and picked up a 71 Cheyenne from a guy in Tucson that has a 98 LS1 already installed but never finished.
The project came with a rust free 2 owner (I'm third) Cheyenne truck (except for a little bubbling under the rear window seal), unmolested bed with NO Dents, LS1 with auto trans. Build sheet. Posi, A/C cab, PS, PB. Aluminum gas tank, fuel pump and regulator, Vintage air system, ECE 4/6 drop kit and some other ECE parts.
So far I have installed the rear track bar and shock mounts. New cab mounts and trailing arm bushings. Disassembled the front end sheet metal, and removed the bed.
I'm also working on installing the gas tank in the rear, it's a 20 gal Summit fuel cell that I'm doing some slight modifications to make it work in the rear.
I also bought the ECE rear crossmenber and hiden hitch.

I will keep everyone updated as I get things done,

I also included a picture of my 66 Malibu that I sold. :metal:

Well I see I have generated a ton of interest :)
I got a little done today and thought I'd post up.
I plan to do the body work and paint myself on this one, and by the pictures I'm sure you can tell I've never done this before.
But I filled the gas filler and the antenna holes. I will do the firewall when the engine comes out after I get my headers and fit them up.
Enjoy...

Made some major progress yesterday, Check it out...
I got my headers on Friday and test fitted them, I did not have to make any modifications to make them fit.
Enjoy...

Sweet, So far so good, keep the picture coming for us. Man, I would love to have a blast cabinet. I need a good air water separator first.

Thanks guys!
I will be painting the frame this week and starting the exhaust system. Also I will get the front suspension back under it.
I am trying to get most of the stuff that know how to do done before I start the bulk of body work. I am commited to doing this one myself. The paint on the Malibu cost a fortune!!! And I won't pay that kind of money ever again.
PLus I want to drive this thing and use it as a truck I don't want to worry about how much it will cost to fix a rock chip in a bazillion dollar paint job.

I just have a Horible Freight stand up cabinet and I use thier Aluminum Oxide in it. It works great! But if you buy one take some time before you use it and seal the seams beacuse it does push dust out.

Looks Good so far Dan! I haven't even started on the Blazer I got from you, but this Fall/Winter it's going under the knife. I have almost all the parts collected to get it done, so hopefully it'll be in primer (at least) and on the road next year.

Hey Steve, good to hear from you, I was wondering what if anything happended to you during Katrina, and what ever came of the Blazer...

Good to know you are still kicking around.

______________

The headers are Pace Setter for 1998 Camaro they have 1 3/4 primaries and 3" collectors, O2 bungs, no emmission hook ups, and coated. Not bad for 350 or so.

These are not store bought frame adapters for the motor mounts (as far as I know) I'll take a picture and post it up tonight.

Katrina didn't affect me, but for Rita (which was closer to me), I moved the Blazer under the carport and left town. Didn't get any major damage luckily.

How low do the Pacesetters hang, think they would work with a pretty low truck? Im building mine but I have a buddy wanting some. I'll have to check out your build sometime, maybe give you a hand.

They are not bad at all, ended up even with the trans and oil pan, which makes sense, that is probably the lowest part on a camaro, but I don't know for sure.
I guess we'll find out how low is too low, I'm going 4/6.

CLEAN Malibu!

I live in W. Phoenix near ASU and I would LOVE to see that LS1 install in person and check out how you are installing that 20 gal tank. Would you be akin to the idea?

Ive never met a board member- Itd be nice to meet a wrench-head worth his salt that owned a truck of your caliber.

azwild1 69pu - No problem, anything for YOU...

chevy72blu - If you want to come by some time that would be cool, I'll PM you my Phone number.

My plan is to put the frame back together this week and put the motor back in so I can do the exhaust system this weekend. So there will be plenty to see this weekend, I hope...

I had some time off today so here is what I got done... BTW I painted it with Eastwoods Underhood Black, I like the satin finish.
