Pics of the truck after buffing
 

It took me 5 months and 14 days to get a new engine, new wheels and tires , new exhaust, new springs, locker in the rear end, new interior, and new paint. I did all the work but the exhaust myself. Here's its current state. I still have to get a new windshield installed and buff some of the harder to get to areas once I get a mini buffer and I have a few trim pieces yet to install but all in all it doesnt look half bad for a driveway paint job on a $500 truck.

Looks like a nice truck. Sorry to say, But I don't dig the chrome cowl panel!?!?! Sorry. How did you get the paint like that? Color sanded? Just buffed out? Thanks

I'm not sure how much I am digging on the chrome cowl either. I'll probably reinstall the original cowl at some point after I get it buffed out. I have a small buffer on order to do that and some smaller detail pieces. Lacquer is where its at if you want shiny paint. It doesnt last as long as enamel and regular waxing is absolutely required but with a little 1200 grit sandpaper and a buffer you can really make it shine. A lot of people are asking me if I am going to clear coat it? WHY ? Nothing makes a panel harder to match or go to hell faster than a big old slathering of clear paint.

Mike...OUTSTANDING JOB!!!!!!!! That is a great looking paint job! That is one you sprayed in lacquer in your garage with the dirt floor and a 30 mph breeze blowing off the sound...LMAO! You did a great job...be proud!

Dude. My garage is WAY too full of junk to fit my truck in it. That was done in my Driveway and the sound is 1/2 mile away! My neighbors hate me!

That truck looks great!!! But I agree Brabra, that chrome cowl just doesn't do it for me. But you have done some great work there! I really like the way your paint turned out!! Congrats!

Nice work, and it looks great with one exception, that chrome cowl just don't work! Easy fix though. That's the first one I've seen, and that's plenty for me. I admire your work though, you should be proud, congrats! :bowtie:

the cowl is cool. it diferentiates it from 'cookie cutter' trucks. i think it add a nice touch. where did you get it?

Truck looks great, I'm kinda digging the cowl too. The best part you did it yourself your way and cheaper than a new one.

Nice old 68. I like the hood and the cowel. It looks nice with the 68 front grill.

Looks like another 68 "sport truck" fan is in the works! (As we call the 67-72's in our house)

looks sweet, but i dont really like the chrome cowl.. looks to much like bare-metal and makes it look unfinished to me

Beautiful job. That chrome cowl would work great if you chromed the hood, fenders and doors then scalloped the black up onto the doors and a little into the fenders. :confused:

One of the chrome cowls I have see in person had the outside part painted the body color and just the middle part chrome. So that if you would look at the truck from the side you wouldnt see the chrome part. I dont know how they did it, I think they might have cut the middle part out and chromed it and bolted it back in somehow.

Gee-Eem, maybe tape off the center and scuff up the rest and paint it?

could you take a pic of the underside of the hood? i wanna see what the underside of the cowl hoods look like.
