Here is the cab sitting on the frame. I only put it on blocks, to make it an easier height to work on. Still have to determine whether or not to use this cab. It has a badly rusted firewall.
Has anyone repaired firewall rust where the hood seal is? Chassis has been powdercoated, 71 front discs installed, new brake lines, custom aluminum tank with LT1 in tank fuel pump. LT1/4l60e installed. Z28 radiator, condensing coils and fan installed. Haven't decided on wheels yet. Truck rallies would be cheap, but I like the American Torq thrusts. |
LT1, now there's a wicked engine!! :D She's starting to look like a truck. And sorry, I dunno anything about fixing a firewall. :(

it will be cool to say ,"it's got a LT1 in it." and watch their reaction
yea! thats cool |
I have seen some small stickers on ebay that say "Lt1 inside", and they look kind of like the "intel inside" stickers on the computer. I was thinking about putting these below the emblems.
|
i wouldnt put anything inside it, i dont know how fast that will be but i think it would be cool, to just put ralleys on it, with pretty normal tires, and nothing outrageuous for a paint job , then race some ricer for titles.

gas tank
hey what all did it take to make that gas tank? did you draw up palns fo it? id like to put something like that in my truck.
|
Centrifugal Supercharger!! easy with EFI, pain in the butt with carb.
|
I drew up some plans, and took it to a local aluminum boat maker. It only cost $215, and allowed me to use a Z28 fuel pump and sending unit. I just measured how big would fit, and how far up I wanted it to sit in the frame. If you need dimensions at a later time, I can send them.

Looking at your rust on your cab, if you go to www.brotherstrucks.com, they have a few of those rusted pieces you need. Just need to be welded in. Im buying the cab corners and door sills myself. My truck is a California truck. Who says cars don't rust is Cali!
|
I have some of the parts...inner and outer rockers, etc. but have not been able to find any firewall repair panels. My cab corners are in good shape, which is really surprising. I will probably have to cut some sections out of another cab to repair the firewall.

Also try No Limit Engineering, and
Chevy Truck Salvage 714-554-1850. If those two places cant help you, then I don't know who can. Maybe you can tell me, are you running dual mufflers? If so what offest? Nobody has answered my post yet. |
I will be using dual exhaust. Haven't done that yet, but was planning on 2-1/2" exhuast with a crossover pipe and dual flowmaster or dynomax mufflers. Haven't decided whether to come out the back or in front of the tires yet. Probably the back. I'm not sure what you mean by offset, unless you are talking about turbo style mufflers with offset inlets and outlets. I am going to have to go around that big tank in the back, so leaning towards coming out the sides.
