What's the difference between 4wd and 2wd fan shrouds?

What is the main difference between the two. I thought that the 4wd was a little longer to compensate for the engine being farther back then the 2wd, but was not sure that was all. I do not have a shroud right now, but with my plans to use a 700R4, which would move my engine forward, I was thinking of using a 2wd version. Also, I am considering using the electric Jeep fan set up that some of the members here have gone to. Any thoughts?

I always assumed they were longer too, but I've never seen them side-by-side.

Yes the 4X4 shrouds are longer. I'ld have to measure to be sure, but I think they are about 4" longer.

Correct..the shroud goes back farther due to the motor being farther back..If using a 700 R4 tranny and moving your engine up forward, you should be able to use the stock 2wd V8 shroud

What is the difference in length from a 350 auto and a 700r4?

I believe the 700 R4 is about 2 inches longer..
