Low profile HEI cap

I am ready to install HEI in my K20, I was concerned about firewall clearance and was wondering if anyone makes a shorter, low profile cap? Any part # or where to find one is apprciated.

I'm using a regular cap and have no clearance problems; '71 GMC C1500

Not sure who would make a shorter/smaller version but I would do a search on aftermarket HEI distributors and see what pops up.

The clearance problems that I've seen is when the truck is converted over from a 6 cylinder. On my 69, I used the donor truck brackets and used the forward holes. No problems with clearance either.

One has to make sure the driveshaft to transmission and all of the other stuff lines up correctly, though.

You shouldn't have any clearance issues. My 68 has the V8 in the I6 location, and the HEI has plenty of clearance.

I got enough room to pull the tranny bolts from above so hei dizzy clearence is not an issue, however if you use a early 90's dizzy they had the coil seperate from the cap but the height is not much different circumference is a little smaller but not much, if theres an issue buy a pionts conversion for your factory dizzy

I *just* went through this a week and a half ago with mine, bought a used HEI with an ACCEL coil and it didn't clear the firewall on my Blazer. I picked up a new stock-style coil and cover and it fits OK. Close, but OK, even with the oversized connectors on the plug wires.
