cutting out or missing with more throttle

I was driving tonight and when I would get into it it would sort of miss a lot until I let up. It was ok when just accelerating lightly and cruising, but under a lead it seemed to cut out.

Would this be because of the points? I am not very familiar with points ignitions.

Thanks for any help,
Todd

Points, plugs, wires, or fuel filter most common causes of your problem. I would start with the fuel filter first. Good Luck. Jerry

Don't mean to thread jack but I've been having similar problems with my 63. Once it gets up to a certain rpm it runs real rough for a minute then evens back out. If i give it too much gas going into that rough spot the truck instantly tries to kill itself. Almost seems to me like the distributor isn't advancing fast enough but i'm no engine specialist.

I just rebuilt the carb twice.

Carb could be worn out, even a rebuild doesn't help one that is too worn. I say three times a charm, or three strikes you're out!
