Do New Chevrolet Truck Rims Fit......

our trucks? I've tried searching the forum for this question, but only found that the lug bolts may be a larger diameter than what's on a 67-70 axle. The bolt pattern is there, but here's the specs......

Wheel Model Years: 1999-2007
Wheel Size: 16 x 6.50
Bolt Pattern: 6 x 5.50
Approx Hub-Hole Diameter: 3-1/16
Wheel Hub Offset: +32mm
Back Spacing Measurement: 5.00

and here's a pic......

Will I need spacers? Should I just hang this idea out to dry? Thanks for any help you can give me!!!!

I don't know about the steel wheels, but on the alloy ones, the center hole that fits over the axle is too small.

well that officially bites. thanks for the information though.

second question, and I should have asked this first. looking at the wheel well of my 69 stepside, it "looks" like it is a bit narrower than a fleetside. am I seeing things?? I concluded that I am going to run 15x10 Corvette Rallys, but it looks like a tight fit. the truck will be lowered about 5" in the back. I want to stuff the well as much as possible, but of course would rather not have rub.

the 15x10's I am looking at come in two different offsets, 4.5" and 5". does anyone have this combo and know what offset I should go with??

Just curious- What if your truck was converted to disc spindles?. Would it still not fit?.

don't know, C10. my dilema is limited funds, so I have to go with with the good ol' 6x5.5 drum setup for a while. I would really like to convert to a 5 lug lowering spindle, but then I have to go with discs and a power brake booster. not to mention new brake lines and proportioning valve. which all could run upwards of 1k easy.

still don't know why lowering spindles couldn't be produced for us drum brake 67-70 crowd. maybe someone could explain?

The center hole is only the first problem, but all of the issues can be resolved fairly easily.

On the front, with drum brakes, the wheel offset is to far inside and the tie rod end rubs on the wheel. Buying a set of spacers; the one that bolt on to our wheel and then you bolt the new wheel to that, not the cheap old type, will take care of this problem.

On the rear, you can either go with another set of spacers, or have the center hole enlarged to accomodate the center hub that sticks out from the axle.

I think these wheels look really good on our trucks, and there are several on the site that has done them.

I have the CPP front disk conversion and stock drums on the rear. The front bolted up with no problem the rear was a bit more difficult basically what I did was I used a die grinder and made the axle hub smaller to accomodate the newer wheel. The cost was time! It took me about 4 hours to do both sides. You need to remove about 1/2" of the diameter so about 1/4" all around. When I did mine I left the drums on so that the lip with the original diameter is still there to hold the drum in place. 5k miles so far and still working well. The only other issue is that the lugs are different size so I haven't gotten the center caps mounted yet.

I have a few ideas for this but haven't implemented them yet.

I saw a thread on here a while back that a member posted - I kept the picture and bought the same rims for mine.

Here is the picture I was talking about in the post, and I bought a set of 2003 suburban 8 luggers which fit over the hole with no mods.

The center caps require a different acorn lug, because your truck has 9/16" inner threads on the lugs and the outer lug nut has to have the new style thread that the center cap holds on to. They can be easily bought, but I can't remember where right now.

Hope this helps.
