Looking good!!! Looks like what I would do to get the bed off... So what is the plan for the truck? Are you going to pull the cab off too??? I saw pics of a guy using a hoist from the side of the cab to lift it off.

I dont plan on pulling the cab off. I will do the best I can on the frame from underneath the truck. It is a Texas truck, so there is a lot of caked on dirt, but absolutely no rust to deal with.

I bought the seats and door panels on ebay for a great price. The problem is that the seat has new, extra padding. The steering wheel is NOT a tilt wheel. Needless to say there is a severe shortage of room between the seat the the steering wheel. Hard to believe a truck this big can have so little room inside!

I am bringing the truck to the exhaust shop this week. Any exhaust suggestions would be appreciated. It is a 402 BTW.

I also need rear shocks. Apparently they are different between a leaf spring rear (which I have) and a coil spring rear. Advice on those would be great, too.

Anyone ever seen a rear bumper like the one I show above? I have seen similar ones, but not with the tow hooks. Probably a dealer installed item??

My '72 Cheyenne Super 20 with the 402 has a brand new 2.5" dual exhaust system with Flowmasters, but no crossover, and it sounds great.

I ordered a Summit Racing exhaust kit for mine. It replaced the manifolds with headers, turbo mufflers, and side exit ahead of the rear tires. Mine was 100% stock with duals out the back. The first thing I noticed with the headers over the manifolds was how much better the engine breathes now. Prior to the headers and exhaust, when I opened the secondaries in the carb it would just gasp for air. Now, it just picks up the nose and pulls hard. Put headers on it.

I used Flow Masters with the standard exhaust manifolds ran me $400 from the manifolds back (with both mufflers) and exiting out therear behind the tires, I had a crossover pipe on the last truck worked great, BTW Nice work so far.

with mine i have long tube headers along with the longest cherry bomb glasspack header mufflers they make....I love the old school sound and it defiently beats the straight pipes i ran for almost four months lol

I quit using headers and cherry bombs about 20 years ago.

I am leaning toward 2.5 inch pipes in and out of Walker Dynomax Super Turbos.

Pretty boring, I know!
