Getting There

Well Monday will be a a month 1/2 he has had the truck. He is still primering it and sanding it. Hasen't touched the top, bumper, hood, cowl at all yet. Cowl is hanging on the wall behind the truck. I plan to order the glass next week for it. He has fixed the door rust and around the back window also. He has filled all the moulding holes and gas hole in. Maybe by Thanksgiving I'll have it home and start putting it back together.
As long as I make the show in Mrytle Beach in March I'm COOL!
I don't mind the time it's taking as long as the results come out great. I told him it wasn't going to be a show truck and he looked at me and said when I'm done it would be!!!!

Piece of Work,

Our trailer is in Garden City right across the road from Shara J's. If you would send me your number I'll call and maybe get together. I'll be down I hope toward the end of October for Ocean Lakes Golfcart show. I build carts too! I was going to getup with you the last time we were down and could remember your name. Sorry.
You don't know of anybody wanting to sale a cart do you. I'm always looking for them to redo.
Here is my hot rod cart. This was taken in the drive at the beach house. The wheelie bar wheels are functional too!

Thanks,
Truck is driving me crazy because it's not in the garage so I can work on it. The end result's will be worth it though I hope.

The cart is a blast. Like I said before the wheelie wheel's are functional.

Re: Getting There

It takes time and I see you have frenched the radio antenna filled the trim holes, bed posts and I don't know what the plan is for side marker lights and the cargo light. I filled all of mine, and this was on top of any rust repair. About three months in all before I got to the interior, bed wood, wiring, engine detailing, exhaust etc. .... You have your work cut out for you but it looks really sweet.

Good luck with the project ....

esll. :)

Re: Getting There

Thanks,
I'm going to leave the marker and cargo lights though. I'm not in a hurry for it to be done, just want it done right and not have to worry about it not being here.

Re: Getting There

Yep your on a good path .... do it right the first time! I can relate to not having your truck at home as I hate even having to source stuff out for a couple hours and I'm right there so when it's been away from the shop it almost makes me sick. I used to walk out and look at my truck and was amazed at how I seemed to be getting no where. Then one day it was time to paint the finish coat and what a great feeling that was. That day is coming for you as well and before long you will have it home .... then let the bench racing begin.

Hang in there it's all going to be ok,

esll. :)

Is the march show you are shooting for the Run to the Sun? We did that one a few years back and really enjoyed it. The organizers never sent us any info about dates for follow up shows and we haven't ever done it again.:(

if you rush any craftsman you,ll regret it. let the man do his job and you,ll be happy you did. good work takes time and alot of effort.

X2 ..... Didn't want to say it but march is really early for this to complete. Took me 9 months, I'm retired so I had time more then most to spend on my truck and I still had a bed and exhaust work to do. Not to mention iron the bugs out so my truck would run right. I took a break from it now and then and wasted a week here and there as I was becoming burnt out, it was soon becoming like a job and you don't want that to happen.

Keep with it and the shows you miss will be there next year.

esll. :)

Re: Getting There

See ten,

Yes that is the show. I haven't missed it but once and that was last year. It's a great show and nice since we have our beach house with in driving distance. If enough of you Guy's & Gals come for the show maybe we could have a cookout at the house too. I have a big lot behind me we can park about 20 trucks plus my yard. We could just go out and eat, there is some great seafood right where we live. I'm open for anything.
If there is enough interest we could do it.

See Ten,
I like your photo shots you do by the way. I like to get together one afternoon once I get mine back together. Take a nice ride through the country side. I'm about 2 hrs north of you in SC.

Here is the website.

Re: Getting There

Ordered a new track bar today from (ECE) and my new smoke grey windows from Vintage Glass Ga.. I'm consedering buying the leather material and redo the door panels, headliner, dash pad and seat.
I have a friend that said he would do all the labor for a lift kit I have for his golf cart. I'll install it for him if he does the interior I guess. Nothing fancy but leather in buckskin if I can find it for a good price...Hint Hint!
