Re: Brake drums
Well i just looked in an LMC catalog and they show different part numbers for a front 4x4 drum and front 2x4 drum. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/0144.asp

Re: Brake drums
UPDATE This might be some good info,Good ole AUTOZONE had a brand new one for 24.99 but it was listed for the back.I looked at it and it looked the same,so I purchased it and it WORKED ON THE FRONT.Been running it for a few months now and no problems,I was about to pay 35.00 for one at a junkyard that had been sitting for a long time.I never would have thought I could got a new for that price. Thanks Randy.

Re: Brake drums
Yea those Autozone cheapies are made in China and cannot be turned. Don't know why they make 'em that way. Seems wasteful, but I guess they just want to sell more disposable crap, and that eliminates the need to hire another kid in the shop to turn drums and rotors, but that's another story.

Re: Brake drums
Yah, buy from Autozone and send a job overseas!,, but they sure were handy when my Daughters 99 Saturn got hit and run. They hit the rear wheel and bent the rim and rear strut. The strut only cost $49.00 from Autozone! Took me less than an hour to put it in, I guess they all have their place, NAPA wanted 150.00 for the same strut. (actually the exact same part number) A Garage quoted her 250.00 to install it.

Re: Brake drums
if you want new drums, then you have no choice on where they are built. If I am not mistaken, that is the ONLY drum being made. Notice there is no lip for the drum spring, and no hole to adjust the brakes.

Re: Brake drums
I never messed with 4X4s, but on the 2 wheel drive trucks, 1/2 ton, the hole was in the drum.
And yeah, as far as I know, that cheap disposable $25 drum is the only one made. |
Re: Brake drums
Yeah just about all of the brake drums are made in China, It doesn't matter where you get them anymore.;)

Re: Brake drums
I bought some new drums a couple of months ago that were made in Canada (purchased from NAPA)
