1999 chevy outter door handle assembly/bucket
 

I hang over in the 67-72 section and I'm not too familiar with newer Chevys
I'm looking for an outter door handle bucket - black - square plastic and assorted parts connected to it. It's for my father in laws truck, he had the door locked and tried to open it from the outside - it cracked but still worked for several months.. now, it wont open from the inside unless you hold up on the outside at the same time ???? Anywho, he jb welded something in there he said was just potmetal.... Anyone have one? Thanks all.

If it's a 1999 OBS he probably needs both the inner and outer door handles. Very common on the 95-02 trucks.

OBS is most often referred to as the C/K bodystyle as opposed to the Silverado bodystyle. The inside handle breaks regularly but is fairly easy to replace. Once you get the panel off there is only one rivet that holds the handle in place(doesn't need to be put back in either), One way I've found to extend the life of the inside handle is to put a little kink in the rod that goes from the handle to the latch. It's easy to get to and I just bend it a little with a pair of pliers effectively making the rod a touch shorter. Works real well.

Thanks again! He didn't wait for me to find out anything and today, picked up the outter parts - he came by this evening and said after replacing the outter, he got home and the inner handle broke off! You called it! He said he'll pick up the rest of the parts tomorrow so disregard the request and thank you.
