rear coil support plate

I need to replace my rear coil upper support plates/brackets, mine are rusted pretty bad. I cant find anyone that sells these. I noticed some pictures of other 67-72's that just have flat plates riveted to the frame. Mine are more of a L shape. They are riveted to the crossmember and to the bottom of the frame. Can i just fab up a flat plate and bolt them to the bottom of the frame or do i need to try and find replacements like mine out of the junkyard? If i need to find replacements i noticed that there is a filler plate in between my stock plates and the frame due to the odd shape of the brackets can i just cut a plate to fit in there?

You need the 'L' shape to keep the frame from twisting under the load. They are not re-popped as far as I know. I just bought a set from a board member(Thanks Frizzle).

I thought about just fabbing up a bracket to tie everything back together. Could i just flush mount the bracket to the frame or would it need to have the same shape as the stock one?

Check with billsbowtie, he might have what you need since he has a huge parts collection all the time in the for sale forum.

Look for someone in the suspension forum converting from trailing arms to 4-link or some other set-up and ask them what they plan on doing with their stock crossmember (that's how Gringo got mine).
