Rear bumper question

I was at the O'Reilly by my house today buying brake pads for my wife's Durango. The manager there noticed that I was driving my old 86. He told me that he's currently parting out an '85 K5 Blazer and asked if I needed bumpers for my truck. I told him that I have a front still new in the box that I haven't put on yet, that I have been saving it until I tear this truck down to the frame.

He said the bumpers on the 85 Blazer that he has are in excellent condition and that since I work with his mom he'd take $100 for the pair. He said he even has the tow hooks, which I have been searching forever for a set.

My question is this. Will the rear bumper brackets bolt directly on to my truck? Are the bumpers and the brackets the same, or are they different? If so, can they be made to work? $100 for a pair of bumpers that I could bolt on and use right now is a deal that I can't pass up as long as they will fit, so I wanted to ask you guys if any of you have swapped a rear bumper off of a Blazer onto a pickup. Thanks for replys. ...Joe

Re: Rear bumper question

i had a burb bumper on and the inner brackets are different.the outers are the same.providing your talking about sport style?do a search, there has been alot of discussion on this, and it gets kinda confusing.i just used outers only and its plenty strong.unless your gonna be standing on and using it for a step.

Re: Rear bumper question

a search for bumper would have come up with this...
Yes.
The rear "outer" brackets will bolt right up. The "inner" brackets will not. Some people run without the inner brackets cause they are hard to find used for the sport/blazer/burb bumper to fit the fleetside truck. New they cost about 50-80$.
Buy both bumpers, sell one of the fronts, use that cash to buy the rear inner brackets if you feel the need.
Pretty good deal for those bumpers!

boat, you must have hit submit while i was typing...lol

Re: Rear bumper question

Thanks for the responses guys. I wasn't really sure what the differences were,or even if there were any. I thought that I had read somewhere before about this. I thought that some said yes the Blazer/Suburban bumper would fit and some said no. I wanted to make sure first.

If the only difference is the inner brackets I'll give my local Keystone a call and see if they have them. It might be a lot cheaper way for me to get the inner brackets since I wouldn't have to pay shipping charges. But for now, I'll just bolt the rear on without them. He's supposed to bring them to the store tomorrow. Can't wait to put them on and see what it looks like with the rear sport style on it! ...Joe
