Flowmaster 50s and h pipe?
I know it's all relative to what each person likes but what do you guys think of dual flowmaster 50s with an h pipe on my blazer? Are these loud? Of course I love the sound of the flowmaster 40s but they are a little to loud for me. It already has long tube headers if that makes a difference.

Re: Flowmaster 50s and h pipe?
40's are louder than 50's, everyone here has different tastes. (Read the other exhaust
thread in this section) I installed Flows for about 3 years PT & won't own them on the Blazer or the Jimmy. However on a P/U I would. Makes no since eh? What other options are at your local shop? Can you get them to try out using different ones B4 install? Luv |
Re: Flowmaster 50s and h pipe?
It makes sense to me about using them on a pickup and not a blazer. I'll look around i just always liked the sound of a flowmaster.

Re: Flowmaster 50s and h pipe?
Replaced a set of 40's with 50's and would never go back, I've run em behind a 402 & a fairly well built 396.

Re: Flowmaster 50s and h pipe?
My '88 blazer was redone with a stock style y pipe and a single Flowmaster 50 with 3" outlet
For my tastes, it is still loud , and would probably be even more so with duals and an H pipe- but much mellower than dual 40's on my 75 C-10. Its loud for me, but then again, my ideal sound would be for all my trucks to sound like a new Corvette--- just enough to let people know there is something "extra" under the hood FWIW - the 50 series mufflers themselves are much pricier than the 40 series for some reason |
Re: Flowmaster 50s and h pipe?
I had Flowmaster 40's on my Blazer and even with a stock TBI 350 it was freakin loud! I have the Flowmaster 50's on my car behind a healthy 388 and I like that sound way better. Much deeper tone. From what I've experienced, flowmasters sound better behind a motor with some good compression and a decent cam. Flowmasters sound like crap behind a stock engine. My blazer kinda sounded like an old farm truck. The same exhaust on my buddies 3/4 ton with a built 406 sounded awesome. (I bought the exhaust off it when he parted it out and installed it on the blazer.) It all comes down to how YOU want it to sound.

Re: Flowmaster 50s and h pipe?
What do you guys think about this H pipe? Is right behind my transfercase over the driveshaft to far back? I want the same diameter as the rest of my exhaust right?
