Please help, I need a "close-up" pic of where the tailgate chain stud bolt enters the back of the bed. The PO of my truck removed the chains and utilized seatbelt buckles to retain the tailgate. That set up does not work well for me. I wish to install chains but can't remember what the area looks like. Please run out, take a pic, and post it.

Bowties, thanks,,,,My questions is, is there some type of trim, gromett, etc at the point where the bolt enters the bed, or is it just a hole?

Sir, that looks great. As for me, I guess you could call me a traditionalist, I just like the looks of the chains. You know, the stock look. I have power steering yet, I retained the stock wheel. Your truck is beautiful, mine is just a driver. Bumps and scratches all over it. At one time in it's history, someone did a restoration on it. In the process they removed the chains. I was at a auction over the weekend and picked up a tailgate, chains an all. The chain retaining bolt attaches to a threaded bracket inside the bed wall, I just can't remember what the outside looks like. By the way, I could have purchased a short wide pickup bed at that auction. It was is good shape, no wood, but in good shape.

Here is mine . I have a stainless washer the bolt runs up against . I think there might have been one there from day one , but I can't confirm that .

Greg, thanks for the close up..that is what I wanted to see. I will put a washer on mine. It looks better that way.

One other question, Is there a right and left chain? by that i mean, is there a difference in the chains?

In order for the chains to hang properly and insert into the keeper, they are left and right. I have seen a few of the hooks on factory chains with an "L" or an "R" on them.
