Re: And now it begins!!
What are you doing about the chassis? Did you get a different one?
|
Re: And now it begins!!
I have a few I'm looking at. One of the best chassis shops here in town will not even touch it!!! Was thinking about converting that 2wd frame I have. I'll have to wait to get to the house so I can see the differences between the 4x4 & 2x4 frame.

Re: And now it begins!!
I found a 61 4x4 frame in Colorado, but still thinking how I'm going to get it to Louisiana.

Re: And now it begins!!
A member a little north of me had a 64 ( I believe it was) 1/2 ton short 4wd chassis for sale.Southern Indiana may be a little closer than Colorado..I haven't talked to him in awhile but it was still for sale last time I checked.

Re: And now it begins!!
Do you think you could find out if he still has it and how much he would want for it? What city in Indy would it be in, so I can mapquest it. Thanks.

Well I found a frame!! 61 short bed 4x4!! Can't believe I found the exact year that will match my truck. Anyway should have it in a couple of weeks, get it blasted and get it painted up. Jeremy

Re: And now it begins!!
did this all start be replacing a tail light . I replaced a tail light on my 67 and for some reason the hole truck had to be restored to do it right.

Thanks, should get it in about a week or so. I'll post pics on the progress.

Re: And now it begins!!
my 92 is kinda like that... frame is tweaked, and rather than spend the $400 on putting it on the rack to see if its even salvagable, i'm tempted to buy a 4x4 frame, and do another straight axle swap. i've got all of the drivetrain parts to do it laying in the garage, so i'd only be in a frame and suspension components.
my current build started out as a straight axle swap with 3/4 tons, the stock 350, and a 60E/241, but has progressed to 1 tons, 454/80E/BW4401. the build before that did the same thing. its crazy how these "little" projects snowball. |
Re: And now it begins!!
I tried to bring mine to a couple of fame shops, but they wouldn't touch it because it wasn't stock. The only thing thats not stock are the tires & wheels, and there only 265/75/16!!! I could understand if I had 35's or something bigger!!! Oh well.
