How bad does it look ?

I have never been a fan of toppers on step sides but I am a bass player in a local band and I fly some good sized RC planes. The stuff I need to hall wont fit under a flat cover. I went to our local U pull it and there set a 66 with some baddly needed steps and this topper. I dont think I have ever seen a topper on a 66 step and was shocked to see this one in a yard. How bad do you all think it looks? Should I wear a mask so no one see its me driving.

Not really BAD, just a little like putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

I think with a little paint it would look pretty good. I'm not much for the wood grain look, but that's just me.

Not bad , you might want to consider pulling the "woody" off and reskinning it with aluminum sheeting for that "Airstream look" would be more ERA correct .
?

If it stays on it WILL be reskinned.

That makes it nicer to carry the Big Birds, don't it ! I own a hobby shop and use my truck to get supplies from a buddy's shop and just use a cargo net right now.
I can't find a Long Step topper at all, but have thought about building a cover out of 2 old hoods narrowed up and about a foot tall to get my 29% Ultra RC Giles 202 in it along with all of my other "Electric" airplanes. I hate towing my enclosed trailer everywhere.

Nice truck from a fellow Flyer ! :metal:

Looks good to me. Paint it and add an accent stripe.

I play guitar too and I know how much of a pain it is to have your stuff in the back of the truck... Worried about the weather and the thieves... It sucks. You do what you have to... Doesn't look too bad by the way...

A toneau cover does not get me enough room. I would need atlest 8'' above the bed sides for my planes I have now and I want to build a 30%-40% edge. My other problem Is my camper. I have a 63 shasta camper and when we go camping the cab is to small for Me my wife and our 125# golden retreiver. I tryed to get my wife to stay home but she wouldnt go for it.
