69-70 rear seat in 72 burb?
Ok, ok, so I picked up my sweet burb minus the rear seat (2nd row). I searched & searched AZ for one to throw in there & ended up finding a seat with brackets & belts from another site member who happens to live like 10 minutes from me.....the "L" shaped bars fit into the grooves & bolt up on the floor, but the brackets don't bolt up on the backside (up on the lip)...there hasn't been a rear seat in there for at least the last 18 years, so I'm wondering if the owner before me had modified the bolt holes for some reason....or if a seat from a '72 has to go into a '72?...I crawled underneath and there are actual holes in the crossmember, with brackets going through them to bolt the seat to...am I chevy retarded or was this burb modified long before I got it? Any suggestions, help, anything? Please and thank you....

Are you installing a short seat so you can access the rear cargo area or the long seat that goes from side to side. Here is a picture of the short seat.

yah, I was under the impression that there were different holes for the different size rear seats.

It's the short seat, but even then, the bolt holes don't line up...looking at the picture of the burb below, I think the brackets are toward the center of the seat more so than both sides on the seat I have.....I'll get some pictures up tonight so you can see what I mean....thanks guys

Check if there are holes in the floor of your cargo area for a 3rd row seat. You might have to look from underneath if the PO carpeted over them. If they're not there then you need the wider middle seat (or make some new holes). The offset middle seat only came on Burbs with 3rd row seating.

Ok, so after looking better at it, I think the 'burb originally had the longer 2nd row and was not set up for the 3rd row, not needing the opening to get to the cargo area. It has 3 bolt holes on the floor for either the short or long 2nd row seat, but it still doesn't line up with the top brackets. It looks like they may have done that because the original bed or the one that has been in there for 20 years, is made out of plywood and can easily be altered....but that still doesn't explain the brackets coming up through the crossmember (note the arrows showing all 4 bolt holes)...oh well, I just went ahead & drilled through and made new bolt holes....now, on to putting in a 3rd row for the kiddies!.....thanks guys!

Actually they all came with plywood beds... must be a model-year incompatibility. Anyway, congratulations on your first cusom mod :)
