What's the difference?

What's the difference between a half ton and three-quarter ton pickup? Is it the frame? Are the bodies bigger or what?

Thanks

In general terms, you get a heavier rated suspension-stiffer springs etc. My 1951 3/4 has a long bed-I don't know if they all had that.

Re: What's the difference?

Frames are longer and also shaped different on the 3/4 ton. The 1/2 had a short bed with only two stake pockets, the 3/4 has a long bed with 3 stake pockets. The sheetmetal is the SAME from 1/2 to 3/4 minus the bedsides and running boards.

My 49 3/4 has 1ton suspension with a 3 on the tree, were most 3/4 have 4speeds on the floor.

My '54 started out life as a 3/4 ton long bed with over load leafs front/rear & 8 lug wheels! It's now a sb 1/2 ton with a TCI front end and a few less leafs out back.
