Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
I got it as a gift from my stepfather. It's all original (except has a new engine:whine: so the numbers don't match), but it was free and now I can update it a little.

Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
Nice truck and step pop for giving it to ya.
The only thing i'd do to it is remove that condom form the door.:) |
Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck

Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
It has a 350 4 barrel in it. It was bought in California in 77. While it was in MN it was garaged and rarely driven.

Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
87 Stepper the "condom" is already gone from the door. Co-worker gave it to me for cell phone or drinks but it did not look right. I'm trying to find one of those old caddy's that fit over the transmission hump that had the drink holders. Until then I bought a cheap one to put on the bench seat.
Plans for the truck are: First thing I'm going to save for is to change out the transmission to a 700R4 for the improvement in gas mileage and highway driveability. Second is to change out the existing stereo and speakers to a custom autosound setup (looks like the original radios with modern technology and sound) and put some sound deadening material in the cab. Update the electrical with a Painless 18 circuit wiring harness, and change out the gauges possibly with Autometer gauges (not sure which ones yet, maybe the Pro-Comp ones). Third is to do some suspension modifications to make it ride and handle a bit better. And Finally is a Trick Flow Street/Towing Upper Engine Kit from Summit Racing which will give it around 350 hp/400 tq and add some JBA Headers (Silver Ceramic Coating), Flowmaster 50 Mufflers, Be Cool Radiator, and dual electric fans...oh and get a March Ultra Serpentine Kit for the engine to finish it out. Oh yeah...and change the wheels out to maybe some 18" Torque Thrust D Wheels. :) Of course this is a Long Term plan to have it all completed. Hope to have the transmission done this year and the stereo ready to go in. Also hope to have the Painless Wiring Kit bought. Not very mechanically inclined and unfortunately don't have the tools or place to tinker on it myself, but I'm working 3 jobs so hope to have the money there (mostly) in 2 years (have a few debts to pay off from college years and wife and I plan on buying a house late next year.) |
Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
Nice.

Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
That interior is NICE! Thats a rare truck, take care of it!
If I were you, I'd leave the gauge setup as is, and just add a 3 gauge pod under the dash. I did my 77 GMC this way and the gauge pod can be removed at anytime with no signs of it ever being there. |
Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
btw! more pics!

Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck

Wow thats one clean looking awesome ride. Thats pretty sweet that it got handed down too.

Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
One sweet truck you got there, looks really sharp.
The sound deadening material will definately help, it turned the interior sound of my blazer with dumps and mud-grips into a new car. Well at least a new car with the windows cracked a lil. I used Fat Mat and really like it, got it on eBay for around a bill. |
Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
Sharp looking truck! Really like seeing them GMC's.

Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
Sorry no extra trucks laying around with him. This one has around 92k miles on the odometer (original miles even thought the engine is around 2100, since it's new).
The barn is next to a house going out 411 North towards Odenville (where my brother lives and my stepfather and mother just bought a house out there). The guy that let me take pictures of it has a 1974 Chevy truck. I thought it would make a nice picture for me to have blown up and framed. Maybe even an oil painting of the print. I had the original window sticker laminated to mount to the back of the picture. I plan on giving it to my stepfather this January for his 83rd birthday. Pyro I've decided to leave the gauges alone b/c I want it to look as original as possible inside, besides I'll be spending plenty on the other mods. The Rhino Lining was done custom. It was mixed with the original paint color (by the code) and sprayed on to 1/4 inch thick. I will definitely be taking more pictures to post. It's been put to bed for the winter (at my stepfather's house) since he has a garage and I'm currently still in an apartment. I will try to pull it out though and take many more pictures and post them ASAP. Oh the seatbelts need to be redone so I plan on doing the interior modifications after putting the 700R4 in it this summer (better gas mileage means more money for the truck). |
Re: Finally got pictures uploaded for my truck
