Here's andy's thread from a couple days ago.

I managed to get my hands on the issue of Hot Rod with the article and scanned it for all to share!

I never noticed in the other pics that the Camaro on the trailer had a clear scoop. I also never picked out the front plate on the pickup that reads "Golden Cameo". Enjoy fellas! Hope you like em.

I went back and cropped it down to just the pickup. I never noticed the bowtie in the pinstripe in the older images either.

If I remember right, they also installed a padded vinyl top on the truck.

The grille and scoops wouldn't be that hard to do. The scoop is a factory camaro peice being reproduced now. The grille could be made out of pelixglass and painted black.

is that a 67 c10 or 68??? were 68 model years out when they printed this? why do they call the pickup a cameo? maybe nobody here realized it but that truck has '68 camaro hood louvers, not the all black ones like the 67 camaro's...

Re: Camaro grill pickup update on the update! Best yet!

I would assume it's a 67 C10. Of course with it being a Sept. issue it could be an early 68. Then if we consider that the truck was obviously built to match the car, the car is all 67. The rearview mirror on the door doesn't look stock either. Could the mirror and seats be Camaro pieces as well? Anyone else check out the molded rear spoiler on the red Camaro?

Re: Camaro grill pickup update on the update! Best yet!

That is 68/69 SS hood louvers in that truck.

yeah the red camaro looks more like a corvette in the rear... cept the tailights

Andy4639 11-30-2007 03:30 PM

Re: Camaro grill pickup update on the update! Best yet!

The hood on the red one looks like Corvette also to match the rear. Check out the wheels how far the stick out. Reckin' they had a corvette chassis under it too!
I wonder if these are just drawings of what could have been or if they really did build them? If they did what happened to them and where did they end up.

:hmm:

I have a couple of pics of a truck that I saved from the web that had those type of louvers in the hood.
I thought that it looked pretty good.

Re: Camaro grill pickup update on the update! Best yet!

I'm sure the truck is a '67. That the scoops are common to the '68 Camaro, is not a surprise. Chevy could have pulled a prototype off the bench and used it. Since the magazine was dated September, '67, lead times would have dictated that the copy and photos were in and ready to put to bed by May.
