In-cab tank size?
My 64 short fleet didn't come with an in cab tank, but rather a tiny custom tank in the bed (10 gallon). The hole is still in the cab, so I was wondering how much fuel the stock tank holds? Thanks!

Re: In-cab tank size?
I filled my stock one in the 65' from empty to just about 16.5 gallons. suxs cause I run 91 too!

Re: In-cab tank size?
I wanna say my 63 holds 15...................but, there could have been a gallon or so left in there.
Still 15 to 16 would be an improvement over 10. You could just get a larger fuel cell in place of that little 10 gallon thing. Summit has them around 20 gallons. |
Re: In-cab tank size?
I've thought about a larger fuel cell as well, and think I may go that route. 16 gallons isn't a whole lot on a long trip, and since the truck is a big block, I'll need all the fuel I can get.....

Re: In-cab tank size?
I would recommed a fuel cell or a frame mounted tank. I have a 64 w/tank in cab and have the fuel smell. Not sure if it is from a spill cause the tank was just replaced or not. You can always weld the hole closed if it isn't too much work. Just my thoughts, good luck.

The only time I ever got that smell was when the rubber hose that attaches the filler neck split. I had that smell for a couple days, wondering what was up, and oh what a surprise at my next stop at the fuel station when gas was pouring on the floor and out the door sill. There is nothing about the OEM tank setup that should be venting into the cab. If you are getting fuel vapor in the cab, you have a leak of some sort somewhere. |
Re: In-cab tank size?
My truck has a slight fuel smell at the moment, but, I have ordered all new rubber parts. So along with the pending arrival of a new sending unit and these parts I should have my problem solved.
No more fuel smell and a working fuel guage:metal: |
