4 link??
 

What is a 4 link...please? I see it alot...but why is it needed..and what does it do for ya?

The major advantage of a 4 link is it will keep your pinion angle the same as the suspension travels. Most are also adjustable which is helpful. If you go with a parallel 4link, you will have to have something locate the rearend like a panhard bar or watts link. If you have a triangulated four link, the upper bars are at an angle and will keep the rear centered. hope that helps a little.

no, you can get them for lwb. many companys make them and all vary in lengh of the bars. check out ***************** and look at theres.

What is the worst that can happen with bad pinon angle? Do people get them so major reasons...or do people get them because they have $ and buy everything aval for these trucks? Sorry...Im feel stupid that I even ask. I feel like I know alot on vehicles...just not familiar with this item.

vibration happens with bad pinion angles. most people use four links(parallel or triangulated) for better traction/ handling, when properly set-up. In either Air ride or coil-over applications.

A 4 link allows for superior axle locating, reduces unwanted movement from a suspension system, and allows for alot of adjustability. You can 4 link almost anything with a solid(one piece) axle, and also can control the characteristics of what it does upon movement.

Which can lead to transmission seal failure and/or u-joint failure. "Worst case..." well, I'm picturing a dropped front u-joint that knocks out the trans seal, which leaks dry and burns up the trans, and the driveshaft drops down and bangs the hell out of the underside of the truck as it bends itself on the trailing arm xmember, then falls out in the street because the rear u-joint shatters and you have to hitchhike home :waah: But mostly like FnLow69 said... vibration.

Here's my triangulated four link. I used it for adjust-ability, and flexibility. Getting low is just a bonus:D

Just a little bit of trivia.....you old street rodders an drag race guys and gals will remember....
There is a difference between a 4 link and a 4 bar. Just ask an old streetrodder if he would use a 4 link in his 32 vicky and he would probably say "what the hell for?"
Then ask any drag racer if he would put a 4 bar in his Pro Stocker and he would laugh at you.

If the bars can be adjusted at the hime or bushed end up and down (see the picture that corn posted above) that's a 4 link.
