Electric Fuel Pump
My 70 Suburban has a electric fuel pump mounted about halfway between the tank and engine, it almost looks like it came that way from the factory.
Was there a factory or dealer option for one? It still also uses the block mounted one. |
Re: Electric Fuel Pump
nope, not stock.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
If you have both an electric pump and a mechanical one, you have a problem. Definitely not stock, and I have to think this setup is overheating the electric pump seriously.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
I thought it might be an add on for maybe a vapor lock problem, someone did a nice job when they mounted it, hard lines were made not just a bunch of added on rubber line.
It wasnt wired hot full time it was switched, I bypassed it long ago. Thanks |
Re: Electric Fuel Pump
My Sub. had an electric pump installed back by the tank in addition to the mech. It was switched but installed w/ rubber line. The P.O. used it to fill the bowl(s) of the carb after it sat unused for a while. Gas did not flow freely, or as freely as I liked, through it so I took it off. I also like the fact that the engine turns slower with a couple cranks to get a little oil circulating before a 1300 rpm electric choke induced start-up.
However when I had it on the Sub. and it hadn't been started in a month - flick the switch, count to ten, turn it off, turn the key, fired right up. |
