New member from KC

Just joined the forum and looking forward to some give and take on how to make my C10 better than it is. Right now it is a great daily driver with a mild 350 hooked up to a Muncie 4 speed. I was planning to swap out the 4 speed for an AT but I'm really enjoying the 4 speed more than expected. Immediate plans are to put on front disc brakes and power booster. I'll probably buy drop spindles and springs (front and rear) to lower the stance. I'm not sure if I want to do that as this thing drives so well as it sits. Any advice on dropping it??? It will need paint as it is faded but that will be among the last things I do. I'll be taking it on the HotRod Powertour next summer and hope some of you will be there. Last year was a blast.Attachment 324605

First off.... :welcome2: to the board from Mid-MO!!!
Secondly.... be sure to check out the Midwest All Truck Nats, in Riverside, MO, coming up next September, it is a great show. Thirdly, as far as dropping your truck, I would turn toward ECE (Early Classic Enterprises). They put together one great kit, for a decent price. Call out and talk with anyone of the guys and they will be sure to hook you up. ECE offers a great static drop kit (spindles/springs), along with stance photos of different drops on the same vehicle, so be sure to check that out. ECE also offers many other parts geared towards the 67-72 Chevy/GMC trucks. In my future plans, I'm going to pickup the 4/6 drop kit that they offer. If you are wanting to go a little lower, then look no farther than Air Ride Technologies. They have a complete front and rear kit available for our model of trucks. Finally, again, welcome to the board, and what a great looking project. You can ask any question on the board, truck related or not, and you are sure to get a response. Good luck with the build, and hope to see you at the Midwest All Truck Nats in '08! |
Re: New member from KC
Thanks, Nate.
I'm sure I'll find you at one of the meets next year, but you ought to think about doing a couple of days on the power tour. It starts in Little Rock, goes thru Springfield, up to Topeka, Lincoln, Neb, to Ames, Iowa, and finishes up in Madison, Wisconsin. Good group of guys and you can jump in or out anywhere. I'm leaning toward a 2 1/2" drop for the front and 4" in the rear. I'd love AirRide but $6,000 to $10,000 would never fly. My wife would want to spend the same amount! I checked out your build and it looks great. Can't beat the short, wide bed.......or black paint! Thanks again for the tips. Scott |

Re: New member from KC
Scott, actually you could probably build a decent air ride set up from Air Ride Tech for less then $3000 easy. There's also another place that a lot of the board members buy from called Suicide Doors. You could build an air ride setup from them for probably less than half the price of the Air Ride Tech setup.
I've always thought about joining up on the Power Tour, but I'm not sure how far my truck would make it at this given time. I do have it in my things to do list though. For all your suspension questions, be sure to check out the Suspension Forum part of the board. You can ask any question on lowering kits an what not, and will get an answer. Thanks for the props towards my truck. It's got a long way to go, but we'll get there eventually. Be sure to check back on the show guide as it has only started to be written. Keep us posted on your build. |
Re: New member from KC
Welcome to the board from NC. I had a 70 step side, and went with the 2/4 drop from ECE,and it handled great, the ride was better than before. This is just my opinion, but if you decide to lower it,go with the 3/5 or the 4/6 drop. The 2/4 did not change my truck enough to justify the cost. Good Luck.

I'll be selling these wheels early next year and could get them to you easily. When I upgrade the brakes, I'm going to add new wheels and tires. I'd sell all 4 with tires for $200. If you are interested, let me know and I'll hold them for you. Scott |
